Karen Parashkevov has been shooting photos for 40+ years using various genres of cameras from the old brownie to today’s hi-tech mirrorless equipment.

The world is constantly calling out to be noticed, and photography has become her way of answering that call. It is a personal and almost spiritual practice — a way of connecting with the beauty, complexity, and tension woven into everyday life. Each image that she creates is a conceptual interpretation of the world as she encounters it at that moment in time.

Karen’s intention is to transform the world we see into something unexpected, inviting viewers to pause, feel, and reconsider what they think they know. Whether captured in a single frame or a composite of multiple images, her photographs draw on a range of techniques intended to elicit unique perspectives and the quiet narratives hidden in plain sight.
